The Tindals Mining Centre has a strong history of open pit production which has included the Dreadnought, Cookes, New Australasian and Brilliant pits.

During 2011 Focus will develop a new, low-cost, sustainable open pit production base at the Tindals Mining Centre to supplement ore currently produced underground.

This will see the commencement of open pit mining from three new pits in April 2011.  On completion of the first phase of development the open pits should account for approximately 20 per cent of ore production on a monthly basis.

The Tindals Mining Centre currently has an open pit resource of 8.3Mt @ 2.3g/t for 608,000 ounces with 13 deposits and prospects lying along a 2km strike.
